Rekindle your love of…Award Winning Wines Make sure you pack light when you head to the Granite Belt this spring because you'll need plenty of car space to fit in all your fresh local purchases and those cases of wine you just can't resist. The weather, well-drained soil, and viticultural expertise of the Granite Belt has transformed the region's vineyards into a burgeoning industry. Local wineries are the most awarded in Queensland, earning it the reputation of Queensland's premier wine region, and with over 45 wineries, vineyards and cellar doors to choose from, you're sure to fine one (or a few) that you really like. The region's signature whites inlcude Verdelho, Semillon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, and for that full flavour, tuck into the local Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. Summer is the start of vintage season for our 50-plus wineries and vineyards on the Granite Belt, which keeps them very busy picking and crushing through to about mid-April.
